Systemic family constellations are a powerful healing modality developed by German psychotherapist, Bert Hellinger. Through spending time with the Zulu people of South Africa, Hellinger learnt about their connection with their ancestors, and how present they are in our lives.
Sometimes, we become stuck in life because we’re carrying pain for our family systems. When there are traumatic events or people excluded or not honoured in our families, someone in a later generation finds a way to remember them by taking on their feelings. Through setting up a ‘constellation’, where we gather in a group and choose people to ‘represent’ ourselves, our loved ones, our symptoms, and other important aspects of our lives, we can see what’s really in the way of us thriving in life, and begin to find more peace and fulfilment.
I remember my first experience years ago, being asked to represent someone’s mother, and all I could really focus on was a foot pain that suddenly appeared, it seemed odd, irrelevant, until the client shared their mother had foot pain her whole life. How we are able to tap into other people’s family ‘field’ is quite a mystery, but somehow we can. We are so much more connected to each other than we may realise, and constellation work can be profound in showing us this.
Having trained with Barbara Morgan since 2022 (cominghome.org.uk), I am starting to facilitate workshops.
Next workshop Thursday 3rd April 5:30-9pm. See flier below for details.
